# Washington Senate passes bill limiting use of Flock cameras

New tonight,
state senators in Olympia have passed a bill that
would regulate the use of controversial flock cameras.
The cameras,
which read license plates,
been under scrutiny after UWub researchers found
federal immigration agents accessed the data.
Now under the new bill,
cameras can only be used to investigate felonies.
Or missing people,
not for immigration related purposes.
It does
regulate the use of this powerful surveillance technology
and it responds again to the concerns about privacy that I think is a
bipartisan issue,
should be a nonpartisan issue.
We should all care about our privacy.
The bill,
which passed with bipartisan support,
now heads to the House.
