Councilor Mattiace said this ordinance is a long time coming. I have seen the abandoned buildings and the blight has grown over the last 15/17 years and so when you build a new city like Northrise. I call that the other city because what happens in the older part of the city this happens, businesses go out of business and then they just leave an abandoned building and the weeds grow. I have seen that on El Paseo so with that said I think you ought to remove the exemption for government buildings.
