Before we start, I want to mention that we have the ASL American Sign Language interpreters available. And we will start with a moment of silence for the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces as they protect our interests around the globe as well as our courageous men and women of the Los Cruus Police

Councilor Flores asked if there is a mistake, a typo, we have to do an amendment? I just want to say that 40 hours’ leave is insufficient for members of our LCPD. I shared this before where I attended a symposium for lack of a better word for all county, local, police enforcement and it was over a period of a day or two or maybe three days and I sat through that and heard the author of a book whose name I don’t remember and I don’t remember the book but my point here is for you all to go out and buy that book and read it but my point is believe me when I tell you that police officers don’t have it easy at all and I have met some police officers, not necessarily here but one of them is a nephew of mine who was police officer for LAPD and he left, he said I will never become a police officer again. He went into law school. I want to thank the LCPD for their efforts, for their work. When my mother died, she died at home and they were in the house because it was a crime scene or under investigation and the other person that stood there the whole night was Chief Enriquez. I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and everything was anti-cops you know, we called them pigs and my father was appalled
