Judge rules lawsuit against Norfolk's Flock cameras can move forward

A judge ruled a lawsuit against Norfolk's use of automatic license plate reader cameras can move forward. The city installed 172 flock safety cameras in 2023. They help law enforcement track cars used to commit crimes. Last year, a Norfolk resident and a Portsmouth resident filed a lawsuit. Their attorneys argue the cameras are a violation of Fourth Amendment rights, protecting people from unreasonable searches and seizures by the government.
